I think people deserve food, clothing, healthcare, shelter, and utilities. Cover the basics and then it barely matters what you pay people if it’s all for luxury expenses.
I think an actual meritocracy would be great. I also think it’s impossible for merit to be judged objectively.
I think no one should be forced to do manual labour beyond cleaning up after themselves. Other things have value too. Art, company, planning, logistics…any effort meant to aid others has value, even if that value is in morale.
I think people should be judged on their actions, flavoured by their intents. I’d like to rely solely on intent but again, difficult to measure.
I think the reason so many governments are tilting towards authoritarianism and fascism is because in a world with global communication, we can meet most of our own needs without governments and they’re trying to squeeze us before we get that we don’t need them any more.
I think the world can move beyond this society it has created. We have trillions of dollars of stuff just sitting on shelves the world over. If we weren’t making stuff no one needed, we could make much better use of those spaces.
I think decency should make a comeback. The question should not be “Why should I help people?” There should be no question of helping others, or them helping you. Help everyone. It’s quite simple, really.
I think we need more good news. Obviously the rich want us depressed, scared, and easily manipulated. Why not hopeful, dreaming, and wide-eyed?
I think we should move past money. Scarcity is a thing of the past. There’s enough for everyone if we just share.
I think we should sing and dance and finger paint and journey the stars. There’s so much more than just us and our little planet. But until we’re at that point, we need to protect and serve this planet.
I think people should listen more often. I know I’ve enjoyed the last couple of weeks spending less time writing and more time picking up what everyone else is thinking.
I think we need a return to honesty. Arguing over objective reality and scientific fact is beyond a waste of time. Whatever must fall for that to be will be a price worth paying.
I think the only thing keeping life from being utopian right now is ourselves. We can change that any time we stop othering each other and getting along.
I think weapons are only needed as defence against predation. If we stop preying on one another, then we only need them for violent wildlife. I’m totally down for going back to bows and spears. We don’t need anything more destructive.
I think it’s weird how hard it is for peace to be popular. I wonder how much easier it would be without false profits everywhere.
I think. Join me some time. We can think together.
Listening , really listening is a lost art. Bring it back.
