(Hollywood, California) — In a continuing effort to prove Hollywood has run out of ideas and is devolving into an endless stream of sequels and reboots, it looks as though another reboot is on the horizon. This time, the multi-award winning Forrest Gump (1994). The charming story of someone who overcame multiple hindrances to not only make something of himself, but manage to be a part of many of the major events during his lifetime.
It’s an appealing message, and in an age when neurodiversity is a hot topic, a character that may have value in being re-examined, or at least introduced to a new generation. One of the character’s hindrances is a mobility issue they eventually conquer (not really a spoiler, as the box art shows that) and afterwards has a passion for running.
This is where they really hit paydirt. It looks like their top candidate for the role is noted runner Josh Hawley (Reich-MO). He can be seen here fleeing the consequences of his actions.
As noted on the picture, Josh has also run away from rioters in the past, as well as constituents. One wonders why a guy who never works and is afraid of everyone has held a cushy position of power for six years and counting. Hawley is also a good candidate for communicating some of the titular character’s other qualities such as social awkwardness and being a bit dim.
I’m so glad we finally found something Mr. Hawley is good at! His parents should be so proud if he gets the role!
It was announced he’d be reprising the role of the ticket agent in Planes, Trains and a Republican Imbecile..
I thought for sure Hawley was a shoo-in for a sequel to The Running Man.
